Personal and Contextual Factors Influencing Teacher Agency in Overcoming Students’ Learning Difficulties

Abstract: Research demonstrates that the extent to which teacher agency is achieved influenced by personal and contextual conditions of possibility constraints. This study identifies factors influence in overcoming student learning difficulties. Although there are many studies showing influencing various contexts, little research, if any, has been done on students’ difficulties Indonesian higher education. research filled gap examining at a postgraduate English department government university West Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. case involving four (4) teachers who teach as participants were selected purposively. Data collected through in-depth interviews. Semi-structured interview was employed open close-ended questions about helping students with given. The data form interviews analysed using qualitative content analysis. Results demonstrated number enabled constrained enactment when learning. Personal include sound pedagogical knowledge teaching experience. Contextual involve having collaborative relationships among students, school management.
